077. "Kartoshka" pastry (recipe)

This time I want to continue the dessert theme (remember, the blog already has photo recipes for creamy cheesecake and truffles) and tell you about the "Kartoshka" ("potato") pastry. For me it was a kind of greeting from childhood, so making it myself was quite interesting.

Details and photos under the cut.

Cooking time ≈ 5 hours.

Ingredients:

  • 600 g biscuits (I recommend "Yubileynoye" or "Zemlyanichnoye" — just remember the taste of the biscuits won't go anywhere, so be careful :) )
  • a tin of condensed milk (380 g)
  • 200 g butter
  • 6 tsp cocoa powder
  • 3–4 tbsp wine or 1 tbsp brandy (to taste)

First crush the biscuits (I use a blender for this).

Soften the butter (don't melt it). Mix it with the condensed milk.

Add the cocoa and the wine (I added brandy) to the butter and condensed milk.

Pour the mixture over the crushed biscuits and mix well.

Shape the mixture into pastries.

Put them in the fridge for about five hours (though they only reach perfection overnight).

Bon appétit!
