124. Pots with meat and mushrooms (recipe)

Thanks to how simple it is to make, meat in a pot is a very popular dish (on a par with pilaf, whose Uzbek recipe I've already posted). It's most often made with mushrooms, though there are versions with egg, lard or even apples. Details and photos are under the cut.
Cooking time ≈ 1 hour.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg meat (beef or pork fillet, chicken will do too)
- 1 kg potatoes
- 200 g carrots
- 200 g onion
- 400 g champignons
- vegetable oil
- mayonnaise
- salt, pepper and bay leaf to taste
Slice the champignons.

Chop the onion finely and fry it a little in vegetable oil. Add the mushrooms and fry until half done.

Grate the carrots on a fine grater.

Cut the meat into small cubes, salt and pepper it. Add the bay leaf and a little water. Braise until half done.

Peel the potatoes, cut them into batons or cubes, fry and salt them.

Put the meat, onion, mushrooms and carrots into the pots. Add the potatoes, the mayonnaise and coarsely grated cheese on top.

Braise at 180°C for 20–25 minutes, until a golden crust forms.

Bon appétit!
