153. Hot chocolate (recipe)

Autumn is becoming more and more noticeable outside. Ahead of the cold weather I'm posting a timely hot chocolate recipe, perfect for warming up on a frosty morning or coming round on a winter evening. In calories, mind you, it can compete even with the burger with poached eggs :). Details and photos are under the cut.

Cooking time ≈ 15 minutes.

Ingredients (for two large servings):

  • 130 g chocolate
  • 400 ml milk
  • 1 tsp cornflour (though potato starch will do too)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • whipped cream to taste

Pour half the milk into a pan and add the chocolate, broken into pieces.

Put it on a low heat and stir continuously until the chocolate melts. Whisk the rest of the milk together with the starch and add it to the mixture. Pour in the sugar and cook the hot chocolate for five minutes without letting it boil — it needs to thicken.

Pour it into cups.

Decorate with whipped cream and grated chocolate and serve.

Bon appétit!
