133. Pasta with bacon and chilli (Italian recipe)

Italian pasta wins you over with how quickly it comes together and how easy it is to get hold of — even a beginner cook will easily manage an enormous number of recipes for pasta, spaghetti and macaroni. I've already shared two dishes — the recipe for pasta carbonara and the recipe for pasta with "a-la bolognese" sauce, so spaghetti with fried bacon and hot chilli will fit right in.

Cooking time ≈ 20 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 300 g bacon
  • 2 fresh sweet peppers
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tsp ground chilli (or Tabasco)
  • 500 g spaghetti sauce (any you like)
  • grated Parmesan, basil, dill — to taste

Cook the spaghetti in salted water, drain it and let it dry.

Cut the bacon into small but thin pieces.

Cut the pepper into thin strips.

Heat a large frying pan, put the bacon in it and fry it for 2–3 minutes (the bacon should be cooked through).

Add the pepper, stir thoroughly and fry for another 3–5 minutes.

Turn the heat down, add the chopped garlic and the chilli (Tabasco) and braise the mixture for a couple more minutes. Add the sauce and bring to the boil.

Thin the mixture you get with water or wine, put the spaghetti on plates, pour plenty of the bacon and chilli sauce over it and decorate with Parmesan and basil.

Bon appétit!
